Toys / Gifts Making
A complete write up of the history of the TOYS/GIFTS group, can be fetched from the Newsletter Archives in edition:

The Toy Group, affectionately labelled the “Toy Boys” (and that includes women!) meet each Thursday from 8.30 to 2.30 to produce toys that will be donated by charities to disadvantaged children. We also regularly donate toys to the Knox Toy Library and Ferntree Gully Hospital.
The toys we make require work on all the great equipment that the club owns. One day its cutting shapes on the bandsaw and another will see you routing edges or sanding parts. Wheels will need finishing work on the lathes, and many toys require axles or pins which are also turned. And then there is what seems like the never ending job of assembling and then painting the finished toys.
Although some tasks see members working alone on a particular job, much of the time is spent in the toy room enjoying the camaraderie of the group. And morning tea and lunch are great times for sitting together in the club house and talking footy, families and fun times … just don’t talk politics!!!
